My Agent Did Nothing…

Have you ever heard the statement, "My agent didn't do anything for me." Most of the time the agent (talent) can't do anything for you if you haven't done for yourself. When you get a talent agent, his or her job is to submit you, talk to casting directors for the audition. It is your job to be prepared for the audition. Being prepared means acting classes, workshops, mingling in the acting world and really preparing for the audition. Studying for an audition in your car while driving is not prepared. You only have a few moments in the room with casting directors, and you should be 100% ready. If in the end, you don't land the role, don't let it be because you weren't prepared, let it be because the casting directors were looking for different type, different look but not because you weren't prepared. Little does one know but the casting community is small, and word travels and memories are long, when you're not prepared you have auditioned, but not for the role the casting director is looking for.
